What is the YMCA Swimathon?

The YMCA Swimathon is an annual national fundraising event where people come together, swim laps and raise funds to support people with disabilities learn to swim at their YMCA.

On 28 February 2016, 60 YMCA managed centres will splash out to raise $400,000 and support 5,000 people with disabilities enjoy the water safely. We want you to join us!

How to get involved

Step 1: Register yourself or a team to splash out for a great cause

Step 2: Ask your friends and family to sponsor your swim

Step 3: Come along to your nearest participating YMCA on Sunday 28 February, swim your laps, and join in the festivities.

Where your money goes

The funds you raise go to your local YMCA to support people with disabilities in your community learn to swim and enjoy the water safely.

The funds have been spent on loads of different programs and services including:

  • Up-skilling swim instructors
  • Installing disability-access equipment, including pool hoists
  • Enrolling thousands of people into swimming lessons.
