What is the YMCA Swimathon?

The YMCA Swimathon is an annual national fundraising event where people come together, swim laps and raise funds to support people with disabilities learn to swim at their YMCA.

On 28 February 2016, 60 YMCA centres splashed out to raise $400,000, which will support 5,000 people with disabilities enjoy the water safely. Thanks to you, we’ve raised $300,000 combining both online and offline funds. There is still time to show your support with a donation!

How to Donate

Step 1: Find your local YMCA using the search tool above

Step 2: Make a donation directly to the centre, or show your support to someone who splashed out on the day.

All donations are tax deductible, and you can choose to be emailed a receipt at tax time this year.

Where your money goes

The funds you raise go to your local YMCA to support people with disabilities in your community learn to swim and enjoy the water safely.

The funds have been spent on loads of different programs and services including:

  • Up-skilling swim instructors
  • Installing disability-access equipment, including pool hoists
  • Enrolling thousands of people into swimming lessons.
